The year is coming to an end and the Caipirinha Appreciation Society is 'morphing' again. In 2021 we didn't release as many shows as we normally would, due to lack of time to dedicate to our labor of love. That said, the few episodes we did produce working from home made us realize how much we missed putting together more elaborate shows, with greater planning and better timing. We might have managed that somehow in the remote days we recorded our first shows together as a duo, (sharing a microphone meant for outdoor recording!). But now we can officially announce that...
...those days are over! We have finally equipped our work station at home with proper recording gear to open new possibilities to the CAS show. We'll still broadcast live shows from Contrabanda FM. Now that the radio collective has actually moved to a bigger and better-fitted studio, that will be particularly useful for live interviews and pocket shows. But regular home-recorded episodes are now sure to provide us remote workers (and hopefully our listeneres) with endless hours of fun!
Our vids of the week are: Originais do Samba - Heróis da Liberdade One of the most beautiful 'sambas-de-enredo' of all carnivals, it was the theme for Império Serrano's parade in 1969. Here it is sung by Originais do Samba during a TV Cultura special in 1974. The video starts with the singer, legendary musician and comedian Mussum tell some very funny tales about their relations with some more established stars. D'Água Negra - Acopalices This group is from Amazonas, formed by Clariana Brandão Arruda, Bruno Barrozo Belchior and Melka, also composer of the song. The video is directed by Erick Omena (Luneta Mágica) and Clariana Arruda. Raquel Coutinho - Um Tanto An excellent live rendition of the song Um Tanto, back in 2009. Exausta - Julia Branco, Luiza Brina, Sara Não Tem Nome Just when I decided to refrain from publishing too many vids here, the girls from Clube das Cansadas released their music video. Directed by Fernanda Branco Polse and Sara Não Tem Nome and shot by Daniel Pinho, it has a simple formula but the great effort in art direction makes it very nice. Enjoy.

Liberdade, Senhor,
