![]() By MdC Suingue For the complete playlist click 'READ MORE' below If pre-Carnival time is an intense period for the Caipirinha Appreciation Society, being in Barcelona makes the actual Carnival a bit of an exercise of frustration. In spite of recent efforts by the local Mayor to promote the “folly” in Catalan lands, they are not really up to compromise a Monday and a Tuesday of work to the Momesque rituals. So while we watch from afar the party in Brazil on fire... ...normal life goes on here. And apart from seeing our friends uploading pics of crazy parties, we spent the last 3 weeks playing the sambas, maracatus, marchinhas, afoxés and the whole soundtrack of Carnival. As the show recorded on Fat Tuesday will not go to the podcast before the hangover is long gone, we end up making a show trying to avoid overdoing it with the ‘carnivalesque’ music. In this episode we have the entrance of many newcomers in our playlists, such as Terceiro Mundo Bom, Chic Hernandez, Natascha Falcão, Coladera, Juliano Gauche and Tania Christal. Our vids of the week are: Elba Ramalho - Calcanhar Elba is yet another veteran of Brazilian music who dares to get together with artists of the new generation to renew her work. Calcanhar is a song that the CAS listener knows in the voice of Ylana Queiroga. The clip of Elba's version is a lavish production featuring the group 'A Barca Dos Corações Partidos' (not to be confused with the one and only 'A Banda dos Corações Partidos') directed by Eduardo Rios and Gabriel Mattar with art direction by Fred Vegele. The result is amazing. Natascha Falcão - Adeus Natascha is from Pernambuco but lives in Rio and the scenery of her clip is Santa Teresa's neighborhood. Yet another clip directed by Eduardo Rios, this time in a more low budget fashion Jr. Black vs. Menino do Corpo de Velho Shot in the small city of Passira, Pernambuco, this song is from the great album by Jr. Black called 'Vende-se'. Directed by Cezar Maia, it deals with the paradox of the title - "a boy in an old man's body'. Duda Brack and Gabriel Ventura - Vaza Duda and Gabriel are from Rio and got together for this project by the project PLANO C by Gasolina CC. A simple clip shot in studio and directed by Gabriel Garcia, concentrates in the talent of these 2 musicians representing the new generation of Brazilian rock. All that right below the complete playlist of CAS 480 !
