For the complete playlist click 'Read More' link below This is one of the instances when our other podcast, Caipirinha Libre, ends up influencing its older sibling, the Caipirinha Appreciation Society show. We interviewed a prominent Brazilian civil-rights activist based in Barcelona about the activities to be held in "Black November", the local version of the "Mês da Consciência Negra" : a series of events meant to promote awareness about what it means to be black in modern-day Brazil. Since the date also commemorates the anniversary of the death of Zumbi, we put together a playlist focusing on the iconic leader of Palmares, a 17th-century runaway-slave community. That got us thinking and researching, and the resulting episodes of both podcasts are great listens. If you can understand the Spanish, you should give Caipirinha Libre a go (links below): about awareness......y consciencia![]()

For the complete playlist click 'Read More' link below The name of the episode defines the mood: calm, meaning that we tried to achieve a more relaxed show. Few big beats, little controversy or even too much talk. Note that we are experimenting with a new format to present you new albums in the show. The highlighted artists are Céu with her new album Apka! Her fifth album is produced by Pupilo (ex-Nação Zumbi) and Hervé Salters (General Elektriks) and is literally a postpartum record: having to give up the frenzy of gigs and touring for a while to relax at home before giving birth to her second baby, Céu started to create the album. It has contributions from Caetano Veloso and Dinho Almeida (Boogarins), Seu Jorge, Mark Ribon and Tropkilazz . At our first listening, we made the mistake of comparing Apka! with her excellent previous album having the impression that it was more of the same... ![]()

Aquí no será distinto.
